At a press conference in British Columbia yesterday, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre voices an opinion shared by many Canadians. Frustrations are growing in Canada over the current federal governments apparent propensity to completely mess up almost everything they touch.
One could be accepting, or at least understanding, of a fumble when addressing some new and un
precedented event or situation, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for the Trudeau Liberals. The most basic of government services and responsibilities have gone unattended to.
Recently, we’ve seen the federal government fail on delivering basic services such as passport renewals and the smooth operation of airports. These are responsibilities that most Canadians have never really thought about.
Mostly because we’ve never had to. These basic services have historically been delivered to Canadians without fuss or fanfare, and therefore, been taken for granted as automatic. If these services were an airplane, one would think the flight crew had walked away from the controls without hitting the auto-pilot button, leading to a free fall and eventual devastating crash.
It’s not limited to the services that should be no-brainers though. Portfolios that require constant attention such as finance and health care are also sadly lacking competent oversight. With the promise of long lasting low interest rates gone, Canadians are
experiencing inflation at a rate that makes the affordability of basic groceries a real concern. Last month, over 1.5 million Canadians had to rely on food banks to put meals on the table for their families.
Health care has also become a very real, and nor urgent issue in the country. There are shortages of children’s fever medication. According to a recent CBC report, these shortages are driving up ER visits, putting an even greater strain on hospitals which are already overwhelmed. Speaking of ER visits, recently a 70 year old man in Quebec died after waiting 16 hours in a hospital ER waiting room. Doctors claimed that his condition, a ruptured aorta caused by an aneurysm, could have been prevented if he had been seen in a timely manner.
With crippling inflation, poor health care services, and basic services in disarray, one would already think that the most important issues have already been exposed. One would be wrong. The most recent scandal involves a national security issue, which the Trudeau government has been quietly ignoring for nearly a year. CSIS recently revealed that as many as 11 MPs or federal candidates in the 2019 election had been financially influenced by China. Yes, you read that right, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has ignored foreign interference in our electoral system. Presumably, some of those 11 compromised officials are currently working in our government. There is no word as to who exactly is affected, but CSIS did claim that there is no one particular party involved and that this interference by China was non partisan. Yes, there are compromised officials on all sides of the political spectrum.
With the Trudeau government failing at basic services as well as some of the most important portfolios, Justin Trudeau remains ignorant to Canadians’ concerns. Trudeau has, at multiple times in Question Period, claimed that Canadians’ number one concern is climate change. Not to be left out of the news, Covid vaccinations remain a serious concern, if you’re a Liberal politician. The push for never ending vaccination is relentless. In fact, a recent IPSOS poll indicates that climate change ranked 7th in the top 10 issues of concern. Coronavirus barely made the list, squeaking in at number 10.

The problem now becomes obvious. Justin Trudeau is wearing climate change blinders. He has become seemingly incapable of connecting with the actual issues Canadians are concerned about. His obsession with taxing fuel and affordable energy into oblivion no longer makes any sense whatsoever. Someone needs to take the blinders of of Trudeau’s eyes and show him the real world consequences of his climate change at all costs policy. It is ruining the economy, distracting from the very basic of government responsibilities, and forcing Canadians further into poverty.
