Being Friday, it’s a smaller Question Period and therefor a lot less Points of Order. There were two points brought up today, both seeking consent to table documents. As the points were so very similar, I will comment on them together.
POO#1 – Kevin Lamoureux seeks unanimous consent to table a document from the UCC asking Conservatives to support the FT deal. Consent was not given.
POO#2 – Luc Berthold seeks unanimous consent to table an article from La Journal de Montreal connected to a question asked in Question Period. He was cut off before he could even say what question it was about. Consent was not given.
Discussion – I have a hard time remembering the last time a document was permitted to be tabled when in relation to Question Period. Neither side of the floor seems willing to debate on actual facts. This time however, neither document was any real proof of anything. Letters from organizations and newspaper articles carry little weight. The letter from Lamoureux was written by a special interest group supporting anything for Ukraine, and does anyone really trust main stream media anymore given the obvious bias?
